FollowthesesafetyinstructionswhenusingorhandlingyourVUZIXProducttoreducethe risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons and property.

  1. READALLOF THEINSTRUCTIONSAND SAFETYINFORMATIONPROVIDEDBEFOREUSINGTHISPRODUCT.
  2. Usetheproductonlyforitsintendeduse,asdescribedinthismanual.Usetheproduct only as permitted by law.
  3. Donotusetheproductwhileperformingtasksthatrequireawarenessofyoursurroundings or focus on the task.
  4. Closesupervisionisneededwhenthisproductisusedbyornearchildren.
  5. Childrenundertheageofseven(7)arestilllearningtofocusandtrackwiththeireyes. Their vision is still immature. For thesereasons, near eye-displays SHOULDNOTBEUSEDBYCHILDRENUNDERTHEAGEOFSEVEN(7).
  6. A very small portion of the population may experience epileptic seizures whenviewing certain kinds of flashing lights or patterns that are commonly present inourdailyenvironment.Thesepersonsmayalsoexperienceseizureswhilewatch-ing some kinds of television pictures or playing certain video games on regularmonitors, including theuseofa display system such as this. Theseeffects canbeincreasedduetothesizeandnatureofthedisplaysinthisdevice.Asaresult,consultaphysicianifyouhaveanyepilepticconditionbeforeusingthisdeviceorifyou experienceany ofthefollowing symptoms whileusing this device: alteredvision,muscletwitching,otherinvoluntarymovements,lossofawarenessofyoursurroundings, mental confusion, and/or convulsions.
  7. Smartglassescanpotentiallyhaveadverseeffectsontheuser,including:motionsickness, perceptual after effects, disorientation, decreased postural stability, andeyestrain.Takefrequentbreakstolessenthepotentialoftheseeffects,asiscommonlysuggestedforotheritems,suchaskeyboardsandcomputermonitors,thatyoumaytendtofixateorconcentrateon.Ifyoureyesshowsignsoffatigueordrynessorifanyoftheabovesymptomsarenoted,immediatelydiscontinueuseof this device and do not resume using it for at least 30 minutes after the symp-toms have fully subsided.
  8. Permanent or temporary hearing loss or impairment can result from excessivevolumelevelsemittedfromtheincludedheadphonesorearbuds.AlwaysadjustthevolumetoasafelevelBEFOREwearingtheproductearbudsorheadphones.
  9. Theproduct may become warm to thetouch.Iftheproduct becomes uncomfort-ableortheareawheretheproducttouchesyourskinbecomesredorirritated,re-move the product and wait for the product to return to a comfortable temperaturepriortocontinuingtouse.Prolongedheatexposuremaycauseburning,blisteringorotherdamagetoyourskin.Pleaseconsultwithyourphysicianifyoucontinuetoexperience redness or irritation.
  10. Thisproductmaybetetheredtoapowersourceorbatteryandcablesmayextendbetween components. Be careful that these cords do not tangle around you or poseapotentialthreattothesafetyofothers.
  11. Donotdisassemblethisproduct.Ifserviceworkisrequired,contactVUZIXusingthe Support contact information shown in this manual.
  12. Donotpulloryankonthecable,kinkanyofthecablesortietheminsharportightknots.Cablesdamagedbysuchactionsarenotcoveredbytheproduct’slimitedwarranty.
  13. Donotdrop,strike,orcauseanyportionoftheproducttobestruckorshakenaggressively.Suchactionsmaydamagetheproductandvoidyourwarranty.
  14. Alwaysinspecttheproductforsignsofdamage,suchascracks,exposedelectri-cal components or chipping before using.
  15. Savetheseinstructionsforfuturereference.

Immediatelyunplugtheproductfromexternalpowersourcesif:

    • Liquid has beensprayed, splashedor poured onthe product.
    • Anycomponentoftheproducthasbeendroppedordamaged.
    • Theproductexhibitsanydistinctchangeinperformance.

    BatterySafetyInstructions

      • Batteriescontaintoxicmaterials.
      • Donotburn,disassemble,mutilate,orpuncturethebatteries.
      • Donotdisposeofbatteriesinafire.
      • Disposeofbatteriesinamethodthatisconsistentwithyourlocallawsandregu-lations.

      VuzixHardwareProductLimitedWarranty

      VuzixwarrantsthatyourVuzixhardwareproductshallbefreefromdefectsinmaterialandworkmanshipforthelengthoftimespecifiedintheWarrantyPeriod(typicallyoneyear),beginningfromthedateofpurchasefromVuzixoranauthorizedVuzixdealer.

      IfyourVuzixhardwareproductisusedforcommercialpurposes(includingrental orlease)theWarrantyPeriodshallbereducedtoonlyninety(90)daysfromdateof purchase.Exceptwhereprohibitedbyapplicablelaw,thiswarrantyisnontransferableand is limited to the original purchaser and does not apply to anyone else, includinganyonetowhomYoulatermakeanytransferorsale.Thiswarrantygivesyouspecificlegal rights, and you may also haveother rights that vary under local laws, some ofwhich are not affected by the warranties in this Limited Warranty.

      ThisLimitedWarrantydoesnotcoverproblemsordamageresultingfrom(1)ActsofGod, power surge, misuse, abuse, negligence, accident, wear and tear, mishandling,misapplication,orothercausesunrelatedtodefectsinthehardwaredevice(2)anyunauthorizedrepair,modification,tamperingordisassembly;(3)improperoperationormaintenance,usagenotinaccordancewithproductinstructionsorconnectiontoimpropervoltagesupply;or(4)useofconsumables,suchasreplacementbatteries,notsuppliedbyVuzixexceptwheresuchrestrictionisprohibitedbyapplicablelaw. 

      This Limited Warranty does not cover, and no warranty of any kind is provided withrespect to any subjective or aesthetic aspects of the hardware product. Vuzix doesnot warrant that the operation of the product will be uninterrupted or error-free. ThelimitedwarrantystatedaboveistheonlywarrantymadetoYouandisprovidedinlieuofallotherexpressorimpliedwarrantiesandconditions(exceptforanynon-disclaim-ableimpliedwarrantiesthatexist),includinganycreatedbyanyotherdocumentationor packaging. No information or suggestions (oral or in a record) given by Vuzix, its agents,affiliates,dealersorsuppliersoritsortheiremployeesoragents,shallcreateawarranty or condition or expand the scope of this Limited Warranty.

      AnysoftwaredistributedwiththehardwareproductbyVuzixwithorwithouttheVuzixbrandnameisnotcoveredunderthisLimitedWarranty.Refertothelicensingagree-ment accompanying the software (viewable upon its installation), for details of yourrights with respect to its use.

      DurationofImpliedWarranties

      EXCEPTTOTHEEXTENTPROHIBITEDBYAPPLICABLELAW,ANYIMPLIEDWAR-RANTYORCONDITIONOF MERCHANTABILITYORFITNESSFOR APARTICULARPURPOSEONTHISHARDWAREPRODUCTISLIMITEDINDURATIONTOTHELIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD STATED ABOVE FOR YOUR PRODUCT.

      Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, sotheabovelimitationmaynotapplytoYou.PleasenotethatintheEuropeanUnion,anywarrantyperiodlessthantwoyearsshallbeincreasedtotwoyearsexceptinthecaseof use for commercial purposes or commercial products.

      Remedies

      Vuzix’sentireliabilityandYourexclusiveremedyforanybreachofwarrantyshallbe,atVuzix’soption,(1)torepairorreplaceallorpartofthehardware,(2)exchangethehardware with a product that is new or which has been manufactured from new orserviceableusedpartsandisatleastfunctionallyequivalenttotheoriginalproduct,or (3)torefundthepricepaidbyYoulessreasonabledepreciationbasedonyouractualuse, provided that the hardware is returned to the point of purchase or such other placeas Vuzix may direct with a copy ofthesales receipt or dated itemized receipt.Exceptwhereprohibitedbyapplicablelaw,allshippingandhandlingcostsassociatedwith transport (including packaging) for warranty service shall be at Your expense. Vuzix may, at its option, usenew or refurbished or used parts in good working con-ditiontorepairorreplaceanyhardwareproduct.Anyreplacementhardwareproduct willbewarrantedfortheremainderoftheoriginalwarrantyperiodorthirty(30)days,whicheverislongerorforanyadditionalperiodoftimethatmaybeapplicableinYourjurisdiction.

      Itisyourresponsibilitytobackupanydataonyourhardware,andVuzixisnotresponsible for any data lost in connection with any repair, replacement or exchange.

      TechnicalsupportisdefinedasassistancewithquestionsonissuesabouttheVuzixhardware product. Technical support for hardware and its software is available forthefirstninety(90)daysfromdateofproductpurchase.Yourdatedsalesordelivery receipt,showingthedateofpurchaseorleaseoftheproduct,isYourproofofthepur-chaseorleasedate.Youmayberequiredtoprovideproofofpurchaseasaconditionofreceivingsoftwaretechnicalsupport.TheaddressesandtechnicalservicecontactinformationforVuzixcanbefoundinthedocumentationaccompanyingyourproductand on the web at our global site: www.vuzix.com.

      HowtoObtainWarrantySupport

      Vuzix is the warrantor under this Limited Warranty. Before submitting a warrantyclaim,werecommendYouvisitthesupportsectionatwww.vuzix.comfortechnicalassistance.       LimitationofLiability

      VUZIXSHALLNOTBELIABLEFORANYSPECIAL,INDIRECT,INCIDENTALORCONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TOLOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE OR DATA (WHETHER DIRECT OR INDIRECT) ORCOMMERCIALLOSSFORBREACHOFANYEXPRESSORIMPLIEDWARRANTYONYOURPRODUCTEVEN IFVUZIXHASBEEN ADVISEDOFTHE POSSIBILITYOFSUCHDAMAGES.

      Somejurisdictionsdonotallowtheexclusionorlimitationofspecial,indirect,incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply toYou, but the remainder of this Limited Warranty shall remain in full force and effect.

      FCCandISEDCompliance

      Thisdevicecomplieswithpart15oftheFCCRulesandwiththeRadioStandardsSpecifications (RSS) for license-exempt transmitters/receivers of Innovation, Science and EconomicDevelopmentCanada(ISED).Operationissubjecttothefollowingtwoconditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept anyinterference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Changesormodificationsnotexpresslyapprovedbythemanufacturercouldvoidtheuser’s authority to operate the equipment.

      ThisequipmenthasbeentestedandfoundtocomplywiththelimitsforaClassBdigitaldevice,pursuanttopart15oftheFCCRules.Theselimitsaredesignedto providereasonableprotectionagainstharmfulinterferenceinaresidentialinstallation.This equipment generates, uses and can radiateradio frequency energy and, ifnotinstalled and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference willnotoccurinaparticularinstallation.Ifthisequipmentdoescauseharmfulinterferencetoradioortelevisionreception,whichcanbedeterminedbyturningtheequipmentoffandon,theuserisencouragedtotrytocorrecttheinterferencebyoneormoreofthefollowingmeasures:

      • Reorientorrelocatethereceivingantenna.
      • Increasetheseparationbetweentheequipmentandreceiver.
      • Connecttheequipmentintoanoutletonacircuitdifferentfromthattowhichthereceiver is connected.
      • Consultthedealeroranexperiencedradio/TVtechnicianfor help.

      ThisequipmentcomplieswiththeFCC(US)andISED(CAN)radiofrequency(RF)exposurelimitssetforthforanuncontrolledenvironment,whenusedasintended, describedandinstructedintheuserguidance.Userguidanceispartofthedeliveredpackage and provided through our home page.

      Forradioequipmentoperatedatdistancesof20cmorlessfromthehumanbodytherelevantlimitisspecifiedasSpecificAbsorptionRate(SAR)andisameasureoftherate at which energy is absorbed by the human body when exposed to a radio frequency(RF)electromagneticfield.SARlimitsareusuallyexpressedinunitsofW/kg.

      Thefollowingproductshavebeentestedattheirhighesttransmissionlevelsandplaced in a position that simulates use against the head with no separation:

      • Vuzix Blade®
      • Vuzix M4000™
      • Vuzix M400™

      For Vuzix Blade®products, the maximum determined SAR value over all possibletransmission modes is 1.49 W/kg, averaged over 1g oftissue. For Vuzix M4000™ products,themaximumdeterminedSARvalueoverallpossibletransmissionmodesis1.125W/kg,averagedover1goftissue.ForVuzixM400™products,themaximum determinedSARvalueoverallpossibletransmissionmodesis0.04W/kg,averagedover 1g of tissue. 

      Canada
