2  FCC regulatory compliance

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules.

Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

1) this device may not cause harmful interference and

2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation.

This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
  • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

You are cautioned that changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

This Transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter.

The operation of this device is prohibited on oil platforms and aircraft, except that operation of this device in 5.925-6.425 GHz is permitted in large aircraft while flying above 10,000 feet on outdoor fixed infrastructure is prohibited.

Controlling or communications with unmanned aircraft systems, including drones, is prohibited.

Operation of this device in the band 5150-5350 MHz and 5945 to 6425 MHz is restricted to indoor use only.

3  Industry Canada Notices

This device contains license-exempt transmitter(s)/receiver(s) that comply with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canadas license-exempt RSS(s). Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

1. This device may not cause interference, and

2. This device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.

Caution: Exposure to Radio Frequency Radiation

1. To comply with the Canadian RF exposure compliance requirements, this device and its antenna must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with any other antenna or transmitter

For portable operation, this device has been tested and meets RF exposure guidelines when used with an accessory that contains no metal. Use of other accessories may not ensure compliance with RF exposure guidelines.

For Indoor Use Only

Operation in 5150-5250MHz & 5850-5895MHz is for indoor use only.

1. Devices shall not be used for control of or for communications with unmanned aircraft systems.

2. Operation on oil platforms and aircraft shall be prohibited except for on large aircraft flying above 3,048 m (10,000 ft).

6  Human exposure to radio frequency

Like any other phone, your wireless device emits radio frequency energy (RF) during use. According to the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), the critical effect of RF exposure relevant to human health and safety is heating of exposed tissue.

According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), “Some health and safety interest groups have interpreted certain reports to suggest that wireless device use may be linked to cancer and other illnesses, posing potentially greater risks for children than adults. While these assertions have gained increased public attention, currently no scientific evidence establishes a causal link between wireless device use and cancer or other illnesses.”

However, above a certain level (referred to as the threshold) depending on the duration of exposure, RF exposure and the accompanying temperature rise can provoke serious health effects, such as heatstroke and tissue damage (burns). To avoid hazards to health deriving from high RF exposure, limits are set in relation to the threshold known to show adverse effects, with an additional reduction factor to take care of scientific uncertainties. These limits are generally expressed in terms of the specific absorption rate (SAR). SAR is a measure of the rate of absorption of RF energy in the body. Tests for SAR are conducted with the phone transmitting at its highest power level in all tested frequency bands. SAR were first established in 1996 by the FCC in the USA and they were then adopted elsewhere.

You can find additional information about SAR at the following pages:

LX1 was tested and certified to not exceed limits in US, Canada, EU, and Japan.

LX1 Model 516

CE - The highest SAR value reported for this device type when tested in portable exposure conditions is 0.112 W/kg averaged over 10 grams of tissue (limit = 2.0 W/kg)
