- Enables satellite data downloads from the web to improve time-to-first fix on GPS location. Devices with internet access and a clear view of the sky will have shorter GPS fix times.
- Devices can now receive their location from their local Wi-Fi network. The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server should be configured to provide the GeoLoc option (option 123) defined by RFC 6225 Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol Options for Coordinate-Based Location Configuration Information. This allows the device to report its location to be within the rectangular area approximately covered by the current Wi-Fi network whenever a more accurate GPS location is unavailable.
- Devices can now receive the Network Time Protocol (NTP) server information from their local Wi-Fi network. The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server should be configured to provide the Network Time Protocol Servers option (option 42) defined by RFC 2132 DHCP Options and BOOTP Vendor Extensions.
