Spider-Man Far From Home Showcases Smart Glasses Potential

Marvel Film Sheds Light on Emerging Technology

Futuristic technologies play a huge role in every Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. From the fantastical adventures of the Guardians of the Galaxy to the advanced tech of the Black Panther’s native Wakanda, Disney and Marvel explore the implications of super-advanced gadgets and gizmos with childish wonder.

Even the Asgardian magic of Thor can be explained logically, according to the universe’s warped interpretation of science.

However, some films feature technical leaps that aren’t so far-fetched. Peter Parker’s latest adventure in Europe is a testament to that.

Separating Fact from Comic Book Fiction

In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spidey is gifted a pair of smart glasses by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark.

Passing the torch to his young protege, the deceased Avenger developed the shades himself. Through voice commands, Parker can command Iron Man’s wireless force.

The glasses are a hyper-advanced take on modern augmented reality (AR) tech. Granted, it’ll take some time for smart glasses to meet Mr. Stark’s lofty standards.

Nevertheless, the Vuzix Blade can already be controlled using Amazon Alexa. Furthermore, face-mapping capabilities are in development for security personnel.

Ultimately, Marvel helps speedup the technology’s development by giving it a massive spotlight.

It’s only a matter of time before the general public sports Tony Stark-esque specs en masse.
