Vuzix is an optical technology company which specializes in making AR solutions. Traditional reflective/refractive optics when applied to smart glasses create bulky, occluded, heavy to wear devices. A new lightweight and see-through optic solution was needed to enable the industry's future.

Common questions
Does Vuzix sell smart glasses directly, or only through OEM partners?
Both. Vuzix sells finished enterprise smart glasses directly to customers — including the M400 and LX1 — for global warehouse, manufacturing, field service, and healthcare deployments. Separately, Vuzix licenses its waveguide technology and OEM platforms to other companies building branded AI smart glasses products. The same Rochester, New York facility supplies optics to both Vuzix' own products and external OEM customers.
How is Vuzix different from other smart glasses companies?
First, Vuzix only produces enterprise smart glasses. Second, Vuzix designs and manufactures its core waveguide optics in-house in the United States, rather than sourcing from third parties. This in-house optical foundation supports tighter system integration, faster development cycles, and a direct path to scaled production. It also enables Vuzix to infuse learnings from its global enterprise deployments into its OEM offerings, and optical breakthroughs on the OEM side into its enterprise smart glasses. Combined with nearly 30 years of continuous AR R&D, more than 500 optical patents, and 20 consecutive years of CES innovation awards, Vuzix operates as both a technology developer and a finished-product manufacturer in a single company.
